Giving Back To Our Amazing Community
The holiday season is a time to celebrate and spend time with family and friends. As we celebrate, it’s a good time to reflect on all that we have. At Paul White Company, we believe strongly in the idea that those who have been given much should be giving back. We’re so fortunate to have a successful company, thanks to our many loyal clients and talented employees.
While we are always looking for ways to give back year-round, we try to make an extra effort during the holiday season. This time of year can be difficult if everyone around you is celebrating, but you’re struggling for one reason or another.
Consider the demands of parenthood during a childhood cancer diagnosis. It’s an unfathomable situation to be in. At Paul White Company, we wanted to help people who are in such difficult circumstances have a little extra cheer during the holidays. 2019 was our third year participating in the Holiday for Kids program. This program aims to lighten the load for newly diagnosed families while bringing joy to patients and their siblings. For our contribution to their efforts, we sponsor four children, purchase a $100 gift card for each child and bring them to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program to be distributed.
The Maine Children’s Cancer Program also has the “Owie Toy Box” from which children are able to pick a toy or two from after they have completed treatment. During the month of December, Paul White Company employees are so generous, donating toys to help fill the “Owie Toy Box.” Our donation boxes are usually overflowing with toys by Christmas, helping to bring joy to children going through a scary experience.
Our employees – and customers – were also incredibly generous in donating food items in advance of Thanksgiving. The food donations we collected were distributed to the Wayside Food Program and St. Luke’s Church a few days before Thanksgiving.
Thank you to all who helped us bring a little extra cheer to people in need this holiday season. Whether you dropped off a food donation, put a toy in the ‘Owie Box’ donation bin, or supported our company as a customer so that we are able to help make a difference – thank you!
